Support for Private Member's Bill 73 - An Act To Amend The Endangered Species Act
May 9, 2012 - The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce was pleased to provide a letter of support for the Private Member's Bill 73. This past February, the Chamber drafted a resolution that was adopted May 5 in St. Catherine's and is now Ontario Chamber of Commerce policy. Bill 73 directly address the need to ensure the government of Ontario conducts and releases publicly socio-economic impact assessments of all legislation, regulation, and policies which is concurrent with our resolution.    The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the winners for our 18th Annual Business Awards, which were proudly presented by Bell. The awards were presented at a formal affair held at the Valhalla Inn, May 5th. This prestigious evening took place in front of a sold out ballroom with plenty of excitement as the winners were unveiled.

Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce - Three for Three
May 5, 2012 - This past Saturday the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) members at their Annual General Meeting in St. Catherine's reviewed and voted on the resolutions brought forward by Chambers accross Ontario. The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce championed three of those resolutions, and was successful in having them all approved as OCC policy.

Successful NOACC Annual General Meeting
April 27-29, 2012 the Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce held the 77th Spring Meeting & AGM in Sioux Lookout
This year focused resolutions were brought forward and approved by the membership, dealing with some of the critical issues affecting our region.
The Sioux Lookout meeting featured speakers including the new President & CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, Allan O'Dette. Mr. O'Dette appreciated the first hand discussions on the opportunities in Northwestern Ontario and he will be talking about NOACC at the OCC - AGM in St. Catherine's in May.

April 20, 2012 - MNR Minister Michael Gravelle met with Chamber Board members on April 20th to provide a brief update on several issues related to his Ministry. The Minister committed to setting up more regular meetings with the Board to discuss specific initiatives and ideas, their impact on business and how we can best improve the ecomony of Northwestern Ontario.
